  • Stay informed: Sign up for Village of Mamaroneck emergency alerts and follow the National Weather Service (NWS) New York for local forecasts and warnings.
  • Create a winter safety plan: Review what to do before, during, and after a storm, including how to keep pets safe and where to go if power is lost.
  • Travel safely: Delay non-essential trips during winter weather. If you must drive, slow down, keep extra distance, and carry essentials like blankets, food, and a flashlight.
  • Prepare for power outages: Keep flashlights, batteries, and portable chargers ready. Avoid using gas stoves or grills indoors for heat.
  • Be neighborly: Check on older adults, family members, and neighbors during extreme cold or snow events.
