Mission Statement
The Building Department provides many services to property owners concerning documentation and certifications of structures within the Village. The Building Department is also responsible for code enforcement. The Building Department:
- Receives and reviews applications, drawings and plans for:
- Building Permits
- Plumbing Permits
- Dumpster Permits
- Sign Permits
- Demolition Permits
- Electrical Permits
- Tree Removal Permits
- Performs inspections to ensure compliance with building permits including foundation, footing, plumbing and final inspections. Issues certificates of occupancy and compliance on permits that have been completed and have proper documentation.
- Prepares certification letters identifying the existence of certificates of occupancy, building permits and violations on properties, generally required in connection with the sale of properties or mortgage refinancing.
- Performs housing inspections to ensure buildings are used in a safe and lawful manner. Issues Violation and Order To Remedy Notices to owners of properties who are in violation of any building, zoning or any other law or regulation.
