Village of Mamaroneck Announces Proposal for New Waterfront Food and Beverage Concessionaire at Harbor Island Park
Mamaroneck, NY – The Village of Mamaroneck (the Village) announced today a proposal to bring an exciting new food and beverage concessionaire, The Mariner, to the waterfront at Harbor Island Park. Designed to be a family-friendly dining and community gathering space, the concept would activate the park with all-day service and community-focused programming while generating potential new revenue for the Village through a shared concession model.
The proosal comes from Mamamariner Hospitality LLC, a team with more than 60 years of combined experience operating over a dozen successful food and beverage establishments across Long Island and New York City. Their portfolio includes numerous municipal concessions that serve as community anchors at waterfront parks, such as Venetian Shores, Tanner Park, and Bodhi’s Beach Bar. They all feature children’s playgrounds, sports fields, live music, spray parks, and water-related recreation.
The Mariner is envisioned as a laid-back waterfront dining destination with harbor views and a beachside-style menu. Along with table seating, it would include walk-up ordering and grab-and-go service for added convenience.
With an emphasis on community integration and alignment with public programming, The Mariner would operate as an extension of Harbor Island Park. Concession operations and event scheduling would be closely coordinated with the Village’s Parks and Recreation Department to support existing programming such as Harbor events, holidays, and beyond, while also introducing new offerings like live acoustic music nights.
“As we continue to revitalize Harbor Island Park, projects like this bring that vision closer to reality. The Mariner would be an economically powerful addition to the waterfront that further strengthens our community spirit, generates new revenue that can be reinvested right back into the Village and creates new opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy Mamaroneck’s natural beauty,” said Village of Mamaroneck Manager Kathleen Gill.
“We are excited to partner with the Village of Mamaroneck to bring The Mariner to life. Harbor Island Park is the heart of this community, and our goal is to build something that honors and respects that. For us, this is more than just opening a beachside concession. We are envisioning a vibrant, easygoing spot where you can gather, unwind, and connect with family and friends while enjoying food, drinks, and occasional live entertainment. We want The Mariner to be a place where the community’s best memories happen, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone this summer,” said Mamamariner Hospitality LLC.
The approved concession would operate under a revenue-sharing agreement, creating a potential new income stream for the Village while expanding public use of the waterfront. The proposal is viewed as an early step toward long-term reinvestment in Harbor Island Park. In tandem with this goal, the proposal includes environmentally conscious operations such as compostable service ware, food waste donation, local sourcing and incentives for bike and pedestrian access to reduce vehicle traffic within the park.
The Village awarded the seasonal concession on Monday, January 26, 2026, with plans to open this summer.
