Coastal Flood Warning Overnight for Waterfront Areas

Coastal Flood Warning

URGENT NOTICE: Coastal Flood Warning Overnight for Waterfront Areas

A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Monday (February 23, 2026). The highest risk period is expected around the overnight high tide (approximately 2:30 a.m.), with impacts possible one hour before and one hour after (approximately 1:30 a.m. to 3:30 a.m.).

Voluntary Evacuation Advisory

Residents in the most vulnerable waterfront areas listed below are strongly advised to consider a voluntary evacuation overnight, especially if your home has a history of flooding or you are in a low-lying location. If conditions worsen and roads flood, leaving later may not be possible. Some roads may become impassable, and emergency services may be delayed in flooded areas.

Areas of greatest concern

Homes and properties exposed to Long Island Sound, including:

  • Flagler Drive
  • Constable Drive
  • Seven Oaks Lane
  • Nautilus Lane
  • Nine Acres Lane
  • Skibo Lane

What to expect overnight

  • Large waves and storm surges may quickly flood low-lying shoreline roads, parking lots, parks, and properties near the waterfront.
  • Some roads may become impassable, and emergency services may be delayed in flooded areas.
  • Ice may be present and could break loose and be pushed by waves, potentially increasing the risk of damage.

Immediate actions

  • Move vehicles to higher ground NOW. Avoid parking in low-lying waterfront areas.
  • Do not drive through flooded roadways.
  • Avoid the shoreline overnight due to wave action, surge, and moving ice.
